All I can say is “Wow!” I am humbled and blessed to have my work grace the cover of Season 7 American Idol Finalist Kristy Lee Cook’s new single release “Lookin’ For A Cowgirl” which is set to drop on iTunes on Monday!
I regularly shoot concerts and events for 98.5 KYGO in Denver and was able to photograph Kristy’s show at the Parker Days Festival in Colorado in June. After she saw the images from her show, she called me and asked if I would do a photo shoot with her. Who could say no to that?
We made arrangements to shoot on the outskirts of Black Forest with her two horses Captain and Tazer. I drove out to meet her, she loaded the horses and I jumped in her white Dodge truck to head out to the shoot location.
We arrived at our spot and unloaded the horses and started into the session without any specific plan. It was quickly evident that she had spent a lot of time in front of cameras and was expert in the handling of her horses (which, for the record, intimidated me a bit). Kristy is a stunning, sweet, blue eyed blonde who can turn on a smile and emotion in an instant, giving me image after beautiful image over the course of about 3 hours.
During the truck ride back, she mentioned that she was looking for photographs for her next single release and said that perhaps one of my images could be used if we got something appropriate for the record. Well, as it happens… we did!
She called me few weeks ago, saying that she had talked her record label “Broken Bow Records” into using on of my images for her next single “Lookin’ For A Cowgirl”! Today (10/24/14) I was notified that that the song was available for preview via Rolling Stone’s website and my 30 year dream of having one of my photographs on a national release, has finally become a reality and you can hear the single and see the cover here: Kristy Lee Cook- “Lookin’ For A Cowgirl”.
Thanks to Kristy, for the working with me on this project! This was the photoshoot highlight of the year for me!
